Telge Sworn in to Board of Directors for the RTA

the regularly scheduled RTA board meeting of
November
7th, 2007
,
Ms. Judy Telge was sworn in as a board member before her peers and
friends. Ms. Telge was
appointed to the RTA Board of Directors by the City of
Corpus
Christi
on
October
23rd, 2007
with due distinction of “transportation advocate.”
Ms. Telge began her career as Program/Agency Director with a local
agency then moved on to become the Owner/Administrator of Independent Case Management Services in Corpus Christi.
The years that followed brought her much success as a mediator;
but in 1996 she co-founded the
Coastal
Bend
Center
for Independent Living (CBCIL) and became the Executive Director in
1998. In 2003 Ms. Telge
founded and still serves as a consultant for Accessible Housing Resources, Inc., in
Corpus
Christi
.
As a community advocate, Ms. Telge not only serves but draws from
various (current) Community Affiliations and additional Appointments
such as the
Bay
Area Smart Growth Initiative; Coastal Bend Regional Transportation
Coordinating Group; Coalition of Texans with Disabilities; Disability
Policy Consortium; Homeless Issues Partnership; Texas Inter-Agency
Council for the Homeless; Integrated Care Management Committee; HHSC
Commissioner; and Area Agency on Aging Advisory Committee.
The Regional Transportation Authority has a long history of
cooperation with Ms. Telge and the CBCIL.
The RTA has worked collaboratively with said organization to
expand mobility options for people with disabilities within the RTA’s
838 square mile service area. One
example of the success and effort put forth is reflected in the peer to
peer transit familiarization training which was delivered by CBCIL.
General Manager Ricardo Sánchez candidly noted that “Ms. Telge
has been very instrumental in improving mobility for those with
disabilities of any age or income level.
Her leadership will be a strong plus for the RTA.”
