Detective Christa Salinas began her law enforcement career with the Houston Police Department in June 2013. After more than five years assigned to patrol operations, she transferred to the Vice Division in 2019, where she has served on the Club Task Force, General Enforcement Squad, and currently the Human Trafficking Unit.

As a Human Trafficking Detective, she has investigated complex cases involving human trafficking, human smuggling, and the sexual exploitation of children. She has successfully filed charges including Trafficking of Persons, Compelling Prostitution, Sexual Assault of a Child, Operation of a Stash House, and Smuggling of Persons. Throughout her tenure, she has assisted in the recovery of numerous trafficking victims and has worked closely with community partners to connect survivors with critical services and resources.

During proactive operations, Detective Salinas is frequently assigned to victim interviews, where she utilizes her investigative training, field experience, and victim-centered approach to build rapport, identify indicators of trafficking, and support individuals who may be experiencing exploitation.
