Add Money to Your GoPass Account

You can add money to your GoPass account via the app or at a participating local retailer.

Adding Money At a Local Retailer

Participating retailers include: Stripes, Walmart, Family Dollar, CVS, Dollar General, and Target.

  • Download and open the GoPass app.
  • Navigate to the “Wallet” tab in the bottom menu.
  • Locate the “Add Funds” button in the top right corner.
  • Find participating stores near you using the “FIND A STORE” button.
  • Once you're at a participating retailer, have the cashier scan the barcode within the app and inform the cashier how much you would like to load.

Adding Money Via The GoPass App

You can add money to your GoPass account using the GoPass app.

  • Download and open the GoPass app.
  • Navigate to the “Wallet” tab in the bottom menu.
  • Locate the “Add Funds” button in the top right corner.
  • Select the second option to add funds with Apple Pay or a card.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to add funds to your account.

How much does the GoPass app cost?

The GoPass app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play Store.

How do I register when I use the GoPass app for the first time?
  1. When you launch GoPass, the app will prompt you to enter your first name, last name, and ZIP code.
  2. The next screen will ask you to enter your phone number.
  3. You will receive a one-time passcode via SMS text message.
  4. Enter the verification code in the app and press "NEXT."

You also can register from “Your Profile,” under “More” in the app which follows the same steps.

This is a one-time registration process.

What should I do if I didn’t receive the SMS text message with the code to register my phone?
  • First, make sure you are in an area with good cell service where you can receive SMS text messages to your phone.
  • You may need to contact your service provider to make sure your phone is set up to receive SMS text messages from 5-digit short codes.
  • In some cases, service providers may have message blocking active.

Can I use this on my iPad, Android tablet, or other mobile smart devices that are not phones?

Yes, but the app will need the device’s phone number to communicate with your device. Since the GoPass app is optimized for mobile phones, the functionality and screen images may differ.

What if I accidentally delete the app?
  1. Download the app again from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Register your name and phone number again.
  3. Once the phone is registered, the ‘Wallet’ section will be loaded with your tickets and purchase history.
  4. Your profile, if applicable, will also be restored.

What happens to my tickets if I run an update on the app?

Running an update will not delete your tickets or pass or change your profile. Your tickets and profile are linked to your phone number, not to the app or your phone.

What happens if I change phones?
  • Your GoPass account is tied to your phone number, not your device.
  • If you get a new phone, you will need to download the GoPass app to the new device.
  • If you register in the app with the same phone number, your previously purchased tickets and passes will load into the Wallet section.
  • You may register your phone number in the GoPass app on up to four devices within 180 days.

When do I activate my pass?
  • Activate your pass when boarding the bus, and show the pass on your smartphone to the Bus Operator. To activate your pass, slide the button on the bottom of your pass.
  • Do not activate the pass until boarding to minimize the risk of your pass expiring.

What is the refund policy on purchases made on GoPass?

Per GoPass Mobile App Terms:

  • All refunds will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
  • In general, Mobile Tickets cannot be changed, cancelled or refunded except very special circumstances such as mobile application service disruptions.
  • In those cases, mobile tickets can be refunded within 60 days from the purchase date if they have not been activated or displayed to fare enforcement personnel.
  • You can submit a request for a refund by calling DART support line 214-979-1111. Please note that where a refund is made it shall be for the ticket price only. Any other associated fees are non-refundable.
