Sam Larson attended Sam Houston State
University where he graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Criminal Justice. Sam joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in January
of 2007 and worked as a State Trooper before promoting to the Criminal
Investigations Division in August of 2017 and assigned the title of Special
Agent. From August of 2017 until December 2019 Sam worked at the Texas
Anti-Gang unit in Houston, conducting undercover gang and narcotics
investigations. In January of 2020, Sam transferred to the Human Trafficking
division, working Human Trafficking cases and sexual related crimes. During
Sam's time with the Human Trafficking division, he has recovered numerous adult
and child Trafficking victims,and ran multiple Human Trafficking operations
resulting in victim recoveries. Sam has received two DPS Regional Directors
awards, a United States Attorney's Office award and the 100 club 2025 officer
of the year award for his work in Human Trafficking. Sam currently serves as
the Lieutenant over Human Trafficking at the DPS Houston Regional office.
